Ankura Hospitals Expands its Pediatric CoE Amid Rising Complex Child Cases
The upgraded CoE integrates Level 3 NICU/PICU setups, backed by dedicated pediatric wards and 24/7 critical care support, including transport retrieval services for critical cases.
Hyderabad-based Ankura Hospitals has bolstered its Pediatric Care Center of Excellence (CoE) to enhance expertise in rare pediatric super-specialities, minimally invasive surgery, and integrated critical care.
These upgrades aim to improve outcomes for children with complex, multi-system conditions. The hospital network operates multiple facilities in cities like Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Vizianagaram.
The upgraded CoE integrates pediatric medical skills, surgical prowess, and Level 3 NICU/PICU setups, backed by dedicated pediatric wards and 24/7 critical care support, including transport retrieval services for critical cases.
This approach supports swift diagnosis, rapid specialist collaboration, and unified treatment strategies, especially for young patients with congenital anomalies, neonatal issues, developmental hurdles, and immune-related disorders such as genetic conditions.
The initiative also incorporates ongoing training for nursing and support staff in handling rare disorders, alongside data-driven monitoring of treatment outcomes to refine protocols. This positions the CoE as a referral hub for cases requiring combined surgical and medical interventions.
Surgeons are increasingly turning to minimally invasive laparoscopic and endoscopic methods to tackle challenging pediatric conditions, including congenital kidney disorders, neonatal lung malformations, and spinal deformities. These advanced approaches promise shorter recovery times and superior outcomes compared to traditional open surgery.
Collaboration extends to research partnerships with local medical colleges, focusing on long-term studies of surgical outcomes in congenital urology cases. Outcomes from these efforts are shared through annual reports to contribute to national pediatric care standards in India.
Dr. V. V. S. Chandrasekharam, a top pediatric surgeon and urologist renowned for his mastery in minimally invasive pediatric techniques, leads this effort with extensive experience from previous roles at major institutions.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Krishna Prasad Rao Vunnam, Founder and Managing Director, Ankura Hospitals, said, “Timely and specialized intervention can make a significant difference in pediatric outcomes. By strengthening our Center of Excellence, we aim to ensure that children receive the right care at the right time through a structured, multidisciplinary approach.”
