Amazon Pharmacy Expands Spanish-Language Platform for 45 Mn Americans
Amazon Pharmacy said the experience goes beyond browser-based machine translation by integrating bilingual workflows into its pharmacy operations.
Amazon Pharmacy has launched an end-to-end Spanish-language pharmacy experience in the US, extending Spanish support across medication information, prescription management, checkout, pharmacist consultations, delivery documentation, and physical prescription packaging.
The platform is designed to serve the nearly 45 million people in the US who primarily speak Spanish at home. Amazon Pharmacy said the experience goes beyond browser-based machine translation by integrating bilingual workflows into its pharmacy operations.
Patients can access licensed, Spanish-speaking pharmacists by phone 24/7, along with continuous AI-powered chat assistance in Spanish. Medication education materials, dosing schedules, prescription documents included in shipments, and refill notifications are also available in Spanish.
The company has also introduced a caregiver management feature that allows adult children, parents, or other caregivers to manage and order prescriptions for aging family members or dependents through their own Amazon accounts at no additional cost. The feature is designed to support households where multiple generations live together.
Amazon Pharmacy is also integrating savings information into the Spanish-language experience. Customers can see upfront out-of-pocket prices alongside applicable manufacturer coupons, PrimeRx discounts, and RxPass, Amazon Pharmacy's $5-per-month generic prescription program. Amazon said manufacturer coupons have generated more than $400 million in customer savings to date, with insulin and GLP-1 medications accounting for a substantial share.
The Spanish-language service is connected to Amazon Pharmacy's home-delivery network, which currently provides same-day prescription delivery in more than 3,100 US cities and towns. Amazon plans to expand same-day prescription delivery to approximately 4,500 municipalities by the end of 2026.
The expansion comes as pharmacy closures have contributed to gaps in physical pharmacy access in some US communities, particularly in areas with limited retail healthcare options.
