AIIMS Bhubaneswar Ranked No. 1 for Health Record Linkage Under ABDM
The institute has successfully linked more than 42 lakh digital health records and generated around 19 lakh ABHA tokens, enabling patients to securely access and share their medical information.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been ranked the No. 1 government healthcare institution in India for patient health record linkage under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, reinforcing its position as a frontrunner in the country’s rapidly evolving digital health ecosystem.
The honour was presented by Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg to AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Ashutosh Biswas, in the presence of IT Committee Chairman Manoj Kumar Mohanty at a recent event.
The recognition reflects the institute’s consistent efforts to integrate clinical data with ABHA IDs, enabling seamless, consent-based access to digital health records across care settings.
Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Biswas said, “This milestone marks a significant step in India’s journey toward integrated, patient-focused healthcare,” underscoring the institute’s long-term commitment to ABDM-aligned digital transformation. AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s performance under ABDM has been marked by tangible scale and operational impact.
The institute has successfully linked over 42 lakh digital health records and generated approximately 19 lakh ABHA tokens, enabling patients to securely access and share their medical information. These records include OPD consultations, laboratory reports, prescriptions, and discharge summaries, all connected through ABDM-compliant systems with patient consent at the core.
Beyond record linkage, the institute has also introduced Scan & Pay functionality to streamline billing processes. This has reduced queues, improved hospital workflows, and enhanced patient convenience, while supporting paperless operations.
Such initiatives align with ABDM’s broader objective of building a unified digital health ecosystem that improves continuity of care and reduces administrative friction across healthcare delivery.
Under ABDM, health record linkage plays a critical role in enabling interoperability between public and private healthcare providers. By connecting records to ABHA IDs, patients can carry their health history across states and institutions, supporting informed clinical decision-making and uninterrupted care. AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s implementation demonstrates how tertiary government hospitals can operationalise these principles at scale.
By securing the top rank in health record linkage under ABDM, AIIMS Bhubaneswar has positioned itself as a reference model for digital health implementation in India. The recognition reflects the growing maturity of ABDM as a national platform for citizen-centric, interoperable healthcare delivery.
