Zydus Hospitals Expands Advanced Cardiac Care Capabilities Across Western India

Zydus Hospitals has announced the expansion of its advanced cardiac care programme across its facilities in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Anand, strengthening access to specialised cardiovascular services in Western India.

The enhanced cardiac capabilities include complex cardiac interventions, structural heart procedures, heart rhythm management, paediatric cardiology, and heart transplantation.

According to the hospital network, the initiative is aimed at enhancing the availability of comprehensive cardiac care through advanced technologies and multidisciplinary clinical expertise.

Its cardiology services are supported by advanced catheterisation laboratories equipped with technologies such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and Rotablation angioplasty. The hospital also offers advanced structural heart procedures, including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), alongside a dedicated Heart Rhythm Clinic and a multidisciplinary heart transplant programme.

The hospital reported managing several complex chronic total occlusion (CTO) angioplasty cases using both antegrade and retrograde techniques.

In one case, specialists performed a retrograde CTO intervention after conventional access was not feasible, helping the patient avoid open-heart surgery.

In another challenging case involving a dialysis patient with severe anaemia, IVUS-guided imaging enabled successful treatment despite multiple clinical risks.

Further, Zydus Hospitals has also highlighted its expertise in the electrophysiology programme focused on treating complex cardiac rhythm disorders.

Using advanced 3D mapping technology, specialists successfully treated a seven-year-old child suffering from tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy by identifying and ablating an arrhythmia originating from the epicardial surface of the heart. The child's heart function reportedly returned to normal within weeks without the need for long-term medication.

According to the hospital, most cardiac rhythm disorders treated through catheter ablation can either be cured or significantly improve patients' quality of life, reducing dependence on lifelong medication.

The cardiac care programme brings together interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, intensivists, and transplant specialists across the hospital network.

Through this integrated approach, Zydus Hospitals aims to provide advanced cardiac diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care to patients of all ages across the Western India region.
