Bengaluru-based xStep Secures Funding from Titan Capital to Expand Neurorehabilitation Platform
The startup plans to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, establish a centre in Bengaluru, expand clinical studies across multiple countries, and further develop its neurorehabilitation platform.
Bengaluru-based neurotechnology startup xStep has secured funding from Titan Capital to expand its non-invasive neurorehabilitation platform.
The investment marks xStep's entry into the Titan Capital portfolio.
With the latest capital infusion, the startup plans to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, establish a centre in Bengaluru, expand clinical studies across multiple countries, and further develop its neurorehabilitation platform.
Founded by neuroscientist and biomedical engineer Dr Parag Gad, xStep is built on nearly two decades of research in spinal neuromodulation carried out at the University of California, Los Angeles. The Bengaluru-based startup develops neurorehabilitation technologies intended for clinical use in the management of neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy, stroke, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis.
The platform developed by SpineX Inc. (US) and manufactured by VIVATRONIX Tech (India) combines non-invasive spinal neuromodulation with structured rehabilitation.
The system uses electrodes placed on the skin over targeted areas of the spinal cord to deliver electrical stimulation as part of the rehabilitation process.
The funding is expected to support its commercial expansion across India, manufacturing scale-up, clinical evidence generation, and regulatory work in both domestic and international markets.
As part of its expansion, xStep has launched xStep One, an integrated neurorehabilitation experience centre in Bengaluru. Through a collaboration with Trexo Robotics, the centre also offers a wearable robotic gait trainer for children alongside xStep's spinal neuromodulation technology as part of an integrated rehabilitation programme.

“For too long, many of the most promising neurorehabilitation technologies have reached only a small number of patients. Titan Capital's backing gives us the support to scale manufacturing, widen clinical access and build strong evidence as we grow a company rooted in India with a global reach,” Parag added.
According to the startup, more than 1,000 individuals have been treated or supported through xStep technology and associated clinical programmes.
The company is also running more than 25 clinical studies, investigator collaborations, and real-world evidence programmes in people living with spinal cord injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and autonomic dysfunction across 20 countries.
Further, over the next 12-24 months, xStep plans to build up its manufacturing, expand clinical collaborations in India and abroad, add to the evidence across neurological disorders, and keep developing technologies that connect neuroscience research with day-to-day patient care.
It also plans to work more closely with clinicians, hospitals and rehabilitation centres so that this kind of care reaches more patients.
